Fall 2010 Travel Blogs

Our journalists' blogs

Student journalists traveled in Fall Semester 2010 to National Park Service sites in several states --- as far west as California and Utah, as far south as the tip of South Florida.

In October and November, students visited several parks within the park service system. At the end of October, Eight students visited Southern California and reported and wrote stories about the Channel Islands National Park and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area north of Los Angeles. In mid November, another group of students flew to Las Vegas and drove to Southern Utah to visit Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park. And still other writers and photographers spent time at South Florida's Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park.

The blog entries linked on this page are written by the writers and photographers about their trips for this website. The photographs above and below are from our work in Southern California. At top is Ventura Harbor, location of the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center and the site where tours to the Channel Islands depart. Directly above is the harbor at eastern Santa Cruz Island. And below is part of the Old West movie set of Paramount Ranch, part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. We hope you will enjoy reading our stories and viewing our photographs and multimedia content.
